There’s An Herb For That – Part II

There’s An Herb For That – Part II

In a previous post, I discussed herbs used for banishing. This Friday, December 11th, is the New Moon, which is an excellent time for divination. Thus, this post will cover a few herbs and spices used for that purpose.

Broom (Cytisus scoparius) – Also known as Common Broom or Scotch Broom. In the old days, an infusion (tea) was drunk to increase psychic powers, but this plant is slightly poisonous, so please don’t do that! Carry it on your person instead.

Camphor (Cinnamomum camphora) – While there are many synthetics out there, it’s best to use the real thing, which is why I’ve included the Latin name. Camphor is typically available as a white crystalline substance, or as an essential oil. Use it sparingly, as it has a powerful odor. This stuff will really clear your sinuses!

Cinnamon (Cinnamomum zeylanicum) – Cinnamon is just great all around for anything to do with psychic powers.

Dandelion (Taraxacum officinale) – Another way of determining your lifespan is to blow the seeds off the head of a dandelion; the number of seeds left on the head represents the number of years you will live. Now, I don’t know about you, but if that’s true, I know an awful lot of people who should be dead by now, myself included! A more reliable use of this plant would be to dry the root, roast it, grind it like coffee, and use it to make tea. Drinking the tea will help increase psychic powers.

Goldenrod (Solidago odora) – Wear a bit of goldenrod, and your future love will appear the next day. If you’ve lost something, hold a goldenrod flower in your hand, and it will bend in the direction of the object. It will also bend in the direction of buried treasure.

Ground Ivy (Nepeta glechoma) – If you suspect that someone is working negative magic against you, place some ground ivy around the base of a yellow candle, and burn the candle on a Tuesday. You will learn the identity of the culprit.

Mace (Myristica fragrans) – Mace is burned to increase psychic powers.

Mugwort (Artemisia vulgaris) – If you want prophetic dreams, sleep on a pillow stuffed with mugwort. If you have a crystal ball or a magic mirror, cleanse it with an infusion of mugwort. Burn it with sandalwood or wormwood while scrying. Make an infusion of mugwort, sweeten it with honey, and drink it before any kind of divination.

Orris (Iris florentina) – Suspend the root from a length of cord, string, or yarn to use as a pendulum.

Sandalwood (Santalum album) – In its powdered form, sandalwood is an excellent base for any divinatory incense.
